The Happy School project is committed to offering employment opportunities, support and training to local staff. ‘The community running its own project’ is one of the fundamental principles behind the school. The Happy School is managed by a local Khmer School Director, Vanna Peou. If you are interested in reading Vanna’s quarterly reports, please contactt ACE.

Day to day operation of the school is provided by Vanna and the dedicated staff consisting of a head teacher, Ms. Sdoeung Pangara and senior teacher Ms. Chhun Chanthy; a part time Finance and Admin Officer Miss Phar Soknea; a part time Khmer Dancing teacher Mr. Ya Sarath, a part time English teacher Mr. Om Seng Huor, 2 drivers/guards and regular visits from experienced foreign volunteers who run English, recreational and specialised art programs. The Happy School also has a partnership with the University of Paãsãstra in Phnom Penh, which sees a group of students volunteering annually at the school to teach English and life skills.

The volunteers working at The Happy School are committed to a project that supports the rights declared in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The project principles are those of community development – to work with local people in a culturally aware manner and to provide a sustainable, self-managed resource for the local community.
